Coco Channel is a popular revolutionary figure of her time. Her persona remains behind a powerful force in the world of women fashion clothing to this day. Coco is a pioneer in fashion. She believed in “expensive simplicity”-simple yet costly designs. She has been acknowledged one of the most influential figures of the 20th century.

1. Little black dress was made by Coco Channel in 1920s. Today millions of women have such a dress in their wardrobes. Fashion observers consider it a “rule of fashion” that every woman must own a simple, elegant black style dress. Edith Piaf wore a sheath dress throughout her career. Critics considered that the dress focused audience more on her singing not on appearance. “A fashion that does not reach the streets is not a fashion. 2. She adored pockets! Coco Chanel was very enchanted with pockets. Pockets were the basic feature of her designs in women handbags. Enchanting designs make them versatile for different women. Her style bags exude a beauty of simplicity across time and space.

3. It was just a hobby. Before Coco became a fashion legend, she used to work as a clerk in a small hosiery store. Sometimes legends start from humble beginnings to grandeur! Chanel started her career by designing hats. Later it became a deeper interest. Hats were innovative and fancy and soon became a hit among aristocracy in Paris.

4. Did you know that she had started the Sun tan! Sun tanning didn’t become popular by accident. In 1923 when Coco was on a cruise she was burnt by sun rays. 5. Hotel Ritz in Paris was her home for more than 30 years. German officer Dincklage (her boy-friend) made arrangements for her to stay in the hotel. She met many popular celebrities Salvador Dali, Picasso, Romy Schneider, Churchill, Stravinsky, Jean Cocteau, Paul Morand, the Duke of Westminster, André Malraux, Erik Satie and etc. She stayed always free and often alone, like all prominent individuals.
